The third song, "Der stille Fühling" was composed by Yuri Camargo and myself. I believe this is the first Motherwood song to actually be composed by the both of us. He recorded the guitar melody and sent it to me. I liked it very much, recorded the guitars and completed the song with some ideas of my own.
These lyrics are also taken from a poem by Joseph von Eichendorff, originally called "Ablösung" or "Detachment".
The lyrics are a lyrical retrospective account of a past life, which was filled with joy, love and happiness, but the emptiness in his present life and the despair caused by the loss of friendships and social contacts makes everything very sad and depressing.
These lyrics are beautiful and very interesting, as they are a description of the environment and its effects.
The rivers are a renewed allusion to the flow of time. In addition, it should be added that where there are valleys, there are also "elevations" or even mountains.
The irregularly elevated environment is thus a metaphor for the dynamics of life. Nature is also presented as a precious and precious "kingdom," which is also impenetrable.
The lyrics interpret spring as a sign of hope, of "life" and "love".

lyrics
Lyrics:
Im Frühlingsglanz still auf und nieder
Ergingen der Frauen sich viel,
Und liebliche Augen und Lieder,
Sie hielten ein herzliches Spiel.
Und unten von Tälern und Flüssen
Ein schallendes, wirrendes Reich -
O freudiges, erstes Begrüssen
Von Leben und Lieben zugleich!
Verlassen nun stehen die Räume,
Es schauen und rauschen allein
Die gross gewordenen Bäume
So ernst in die Stille herein.
Von allen, die dort sonst gesessen,
Es sehnet sich niemand hierher,
Sie haben den Frühling vergessen,
Kennt keiner den anderen mehr.
Und fröhliche Lieder erklangen
Aus Herzensgrunde so recht,
Und unter den Bäumen ergangen
Erblick ich ein ander Geschlecht.
Geöffnet bleibt ewig zum Feste
Des Frühlings lustiges Haus,
Es schwärmen so wechselnd die Gäste
Da immer herein und heraus.
Die vorigen Lieder verhallen,
Wir sinken verblühend hinab,
Und neue Gesaenge erschallen
Hoch über dem blühenden Grab.

Blackbraid quickly followed up their 2022 debut in 2023 with more native folk infused furious black metal. This is by no means a sophomore slump as it is equally excellent, methodical, melodical, and approachable as the first record. 9/10 RJ

Jordan Vauvert
