The fourth song, "Winternacht" is the third and last in which I have taken the lyrics from a poem by Eichendorff. It completes the trilogy "Nostalgie", "Der Stille Frühling" and "Winternacht".
Musically it is a song that was inspired by the second wave of Norwegian black metal, where I use a lot of sad melodies and, although there are changes and dynamics in the string instruments and synthesizers, the drums are constant with a striking double pedal from beginning to end. This music is clearly influenced by "Jesus Tod" which appears on Burzum's "Filosofem" album.
The lyrics are taken from the poem of the same name "Winternacht".
In the poem, a winter landscape is described where one clearly relates his state of mind to his environment.
The snowy landscape, blanket of snow around him, leads to the conclusion of monotony as a sense of self.
Furthermore, the abandoned tree is transferred to the speaker, who feels lonely, without leaves, naked and skeletal.
A metaphor for death.

lyrics
Lyrics:
Verschneit liegt rings die ganze Welt,
Ich hab nichts, was mich freuet,
Verlassen steht der Baum im Feld,
Hat längst sein Laub verstreuet.
Der Wind nur geht bei stiller Nacht
Und rüttelt an dem Baume,
Da rührt er seinen Wipfel sacht
Und redet wie im Traume.
Er träumt von künft'ger Frühlingszeit,
Von Grün und Quellenrauschen,
Wo er im neuen Blütenkleid
Und redet wie im Traume.
In Träumen.

Blackbraid quickly followed up their 2022 debut in 2023 with more native folk infused furious black metal. This is by no means a sophomore slump as it is equally excellent, methodical, melodical, and approachable as the first record. 9/10 RJ
Jordan Vauvert
